No Coyote

There are no coyotes in Central Park
but there are parrots
clung to the branches
like the sugar skulls of Dia de los Muertos

branches still kissed
by the seasonal fast brought by winter

There are no coyotes in Central Park
but there is a pigeon
that often picks a fight with its shadow

nobody wants a fucking pigeon
as a spirit guide
